Last week of Term 3!!!!!!!

Ramere 27 Mahuru

It's finally the last day of term!!!

The highlights of my term were...

Harold.  He was funny and we got to sing stay fit get healthy.

Another highlight was planting at Mohiki gardens.  I planted with Isaac and we named our trees.  But the planting doesn't stop there.  Simon and I (and the rest of the Batten team) did planting at Centennial stream.  We planted six and named them Jimmy Jimmy-bob Joanna Germy Patricia and Helen.  Jimmy-bob is Jimmy and Joanna's son.  Germy is Patricia's son and Helen is just Helen.  We saw so many worms it was amazing.

Oh there was market day where I wasn't there but as a group we made ice cream and we each made 2.00 profit.  We were so proud of us it was amazing.

OH I just remembered about service day and that I did bird houses.  There were so many that my group made.  I don't know where they are now but someones was upside down and that was funny.

What else did we do?  We finished winter sports.  That was good and my group came second.  We were happy but some people weren't.

The lowlights of my term were...

Athletic day training.  I really dislike athletics.  I'm very bad at high jump and I'm ok at the rest but still I really dislike it.

Having to do blogs on Fridays.  It's very very very boring and Fridays are supposed to be fun.  Blogs take up so much time and having to get them checked is a big pain.

I also didn't like math tests.  It's not that I'm bad at math it's just that I don't like having to do tests.

I also don't like that our student teacher Miss Jamieson is leaving today ☹️😢

The lights in the distance are...

The Holidays!!! 2 Weeks of doing nothing.

I'm also looking forward to villa maria.

I'm looking forward to seeing my sister Emily in the holidays.

And Last but not least I'm looking forward to spending time with my friends.

Thank you for reading and have a great holiday.

Weekly update Second to last week of term 3

Friday 20 September

This week has been very dramatic.  Literally.  We had our production yesterday (Thursday 19 September)  My voice still kind of hurt from me practicing the songs for the production on Wednesday. But turns out I didn't even need to.

The highlight of my week was being able to draw a massive version of Maui's brother.  He is very very very big.  I based it of one of the characters in a book called how Maui found his mother.  Why I drew a massive version of Maui's brother is because we have been studying maori myths and legends.  I have learnt a lot about what the maori people believe and that sometime the stories don't always make sense.

Something I am looking forward to is the school holidays!!!  Next week is the last week of school for term 3.  In the holidays I am going to my kayaking south islands and also having a playdate with Lexie.  I'm also excited because next term I start canoe polo and at school we are doing swimming lessons.  But there is no way I'm looking forward to athletic day.

What I thought about the production.  I wasn't there.  I was sick.  Even If I wasn't sick I wouldn't have been able to do the night show because I was at a Villa Maria thing.  So since I wasn't at the production I'm going to talk about what Villa Maria was like.  So first we said a prayer together and then me and all the other girls who are going to Villa Maria next year and the religious education teacher said the floor was lava and we had to stand on a mat.  They were really a bunch of mats put together and the teacher kept taking them away and we had to stand closer and closer together.  Then some year 12 and 13 students took us out to the drama room and we played some games.

That's about it for this week so I'll try to write next week but I make no promises.
Oh wait I forgot I'm planting some trees on Saturday 21 of September (Tomorrow)

Update Week 1-6

Ramere 30 Here-turi-koka

Sorry I haven't updated for a while we have been doing a lot and I haven't had time to do my blog.  This is what I've been doing.

Planting at Mohiki gardens

At Mohiki gardens we did some planting.  I was in a pair with my friend Isaac.  It was a learning experience because that was one of my first times gardening.  We planted eight plants and we were really proud of ourselves.  I was really good at the digging and Isaac was great at packing in the plant with the dirt.

Life education

Life education was really cool.  We learnt about empathy and how we judge people just by looking at them.  It was interesting and I learnt a lot of new things and we also watched videos about a boy named Alex and about the choices he made and what his body was trying to tell him.  Harold also told us some Dad jokes and at the end we had a little karaoke party.

Market Day

We also had market day but sadly I had canoe polo.  We made 28 dollars but our profit between us was 2.00 each.  Because I wasn't here I'm going to talk about my canoe polo.  Canoe polo is a mix of netball and Kayaking.  We won 2 games out of 6 games.  I am very proud with our effort and happy that we won 2 games because we were playing against kids from high schools.  Here is a link to a canoe polo website.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canoe_polo

Winter Sports

We have finally finished winter sports and I am so happy.  My team was playing for first overall.  Sadly we lost and came second but I'm really happy with our result.  We played well and I enjoyed playing winter sports with all my friends.  I learnt new warm ups for netball and I also learnt a bit more about netball.

Service Day

For service day I made bird houses.  I helped Lewis and Lucano with their birdhouses before I did mine.  I only had 5 minutes left to do mine but I had help from the person from Miter 10.  Miter 10 was the one who gave us all the bird houses.  At the end we took a photo with all the bird houses and I got a little tool kit for putting others before me.  I'm considering buying my own bird house for me and my Dad to build because I enjoyed it so much.

Production

For the production we have been practising our song.  My song that I am doing is called Sats blues.  It was originally Pats blue but because the production is from britain they do Pats blues.  So Mrs Campbell changed it to Pats blues.  Also for the production I got a role for child 3 in scene 8.  It is a minor role and I have to speak in a very unusual voice.

We also have a new student teacher called Miss Jamieson.  She's really nice and fun.  Thank you for reading and sorry I haven't been on blogger for so long.

Ramere 28 Pipiri

Hello and welcome to the second to last blog of this term.  This week there has been quite a bit happening such as -We won free pizza from the PTA, we had a welcoming ceremony today and there was a sausage sizzle on Wednesday.

This week Room 5 won a pizza party from the PTA.  We won it because we returned all the money for the spelling bee first.  On Wednesday there was a sausage sizzle.  The sausages were delicious and since the Hillary Hub were away doing something room 5 had to put the sausages in the baskets and give them to the classes.

Whats been going on in the school

Today we had a welcome ceremony to welcome all the new people in our school.  We all lined up outside and sang E te Ariki then we all went inside the hall and did some prayers.  After that we had a really long morning tea.  We also had a spelling bee a couple of weeks ago.  It was good and I got all my words right.

Whats been going on in the Batten team

In the Batten team we have been doing financial literacy.  My group is doing Ice-cream and smoothies.  The ice-cream flavours are crunchie bar (hokey pokey) and strawberry.  For the smoothies flavours it is going to be a DIY type of thing, where you get a list and you write down what fruits you want and whether or not you want juice, milk or yogurt (you can have the all).  We also had community time and I was on with Emila and Katelyn.  Community time is where the Batten team comes together in a classroom and the people who are on do the slide.  There is a prayer a song and time for the teachers to talk.

Whats been going on in room 5

In room 5 we have had R.E.  It has been about the holy spirit and the different symbol and what they mean.  We have been doing a slide about oil.  I never knew that oil was a symbol of the Holy Spirit until now.  We have also been doing this new game about science and the earth.  You can win cool prizes for your class so room 5 spent some time playing the game and getting points.

Thank you for reading.  Come back next week when it's finally the last week of term.

Sparkly update

Hello!  Today is sparkle day! Sparkle day is about being kind and putting a sparkle in someone's day.  This is a link to room 5's favourite song(well not everyone likes it but I do :D) Video

We have also been doing new prayers.  It's mainly about colouring while listening to God.  I really enjoy doing the new prayers and I can't wait to do it next year.

Winter sports was good we tied with Thorington Golden.  It was a really good game and I enjoyed it.  I can't wait to see who we play against next week.

Production is coming up soon to and the sign up sheets were out on Tuesday.  I chose to do a main role for the production.  I don't know what happens now but I'm really excited to audition for the production.

I have Saturday netball on tomorrow as well.  I really hope that I'm a defence player because that's my favourite position.

In R.E. we have been learning about the holy spirit and the different symbols of the holy spirit.  This is my R.E. slideshow ------->

Thank you very much for reading my blog see you next week. Isla

Weekly update

Friday 14 June

Sorry for the long wait.  I haven't been posting lately because of chapter chat.  This week has been pretty so so but it was kind of fun.

This week I have enjoyed financial literacy.  Financial literacy is something we're doing for inquiry right now.  So we pick groups (I'm with Simon and Isaac) and we decided that we are going to make smoothies candles and bath bombs.

One thing I need to work on is my narratives.  I really enjoy writing narratives but I'm finding this quite hard.  I like to write random stories about crazy things but I'm finding it difficult because now I have to think about what's going to happen.

An interesting thing I've learnt is 7 aside netball.  On Thursday my team had a bye for winter sports.  We weren't the only team with a bye though, one of the year 7 netball teams had a bye as well.  So my team got random positions and we learnt how to play 7 aside netball.  I was goal defence.  I really like goal defence because it is the exact same as normal defence.  I really hope that I'm goal defence next year for winter sport and Saturday netball.

I also really liked the visit from Middleton Grange.  I saw the orchestra and the jazz band.  It was really loud but really cool and I really enjoyed it.  The orchestra was good but the jazz band was my favourite by far.

Thank you for reading my blog.
